As I went over my paperwork in prep for next week’s flight test I realized that my medical is due to expire at the end of October. I also realized that my Student Pilot Permit is also due to expire soon. This prompted me to look into taking the Aviation Medical Exam sooner than later. My previous medical was done in Ottawa by a great doctor who was very thorough but also very busy. I wanted a similar experience (without the wait) but since I’m working in Montreal most weekdays I wanted to see if I could do this more locally. Lucky for me Transport Canada keeps a handy list of all CAME’s by province.
I was able to call on Monday and booked an appointment for Wednesday at 17:00. This is the type of exam you cannot study for. I was slightly nervous being on the borderline between “you’re a little chubby” and “wow man you’re a fat bastard!”. It turns out that like most times, my anxiety was unfounded.
The doctor had me fill out some paperwork, show him my current medical and then pee in a jar. We went thru the standard tests which for a Class III are Vision, Physical movements, Color perception, Hearing and a check for swelling in the lymph nodes. All were a pass!
So it looks like I’m batting 1000 here and I just need to keep the momentum up. Let me pass my flight test so that I do not have to humbly go retake the PSTAR!
Stay Tuned!
