VFR Flight Planning Info
When planning to make a cross country trip, much information is required even before breaking out the E6B and performing your performance calculations. At a bare minimum you will require:
- RFC’s Flight Planning Notes
- Blank ICAO flight planning form and Flight Worksheet.
- Current VFR Weather Information (Online or via Briefing)
- Current W&B for the aircraft selected.
- Current Performance Calculations
- Current CFS and VNC chart for the area of flight.
Perhaps you want to do it the manual way, or if you like the automated method (this one only works in Safari) both are quite reasonable.
If you are flying down to Cornwall you might want to check the weather at Massena, just across the river. If you are going near Brockville then try the weather from Ogdensburg Intl.
If you are unsure of a Meteorological abbreviation here is the MANAB guide!
If you know where you are going and wish to see the weather along that path, use the Route Data entry system.
